The answers to the questions most frequently asked by those interested in our service or by users of the hall of residence are listed below.
How can I make the booking?

You can book your place through our website. First of all, you must make a pre-booking or you can make the reservation directly as soon as will be opened. Then, rooms will be allocated in order of registration.

If you have any queries about making your pre-booking, please call us on 93 860 00 95 during office hours (9:00 to 13:00 and 15:00 to 19:00 from Monday to Friday).

Can I choose the duration of the rental contract?

Yes, there are two categories according to the contract duration:

- Full academic year: ten months (from the 1st of September to the 30th of June from the current year)
- Short stay: between one and nine months.

Do I have to pay a security deposit?

The security deposit serves to guarantee your place and as security against any damage caused to the room's furniture and utensils.
The security deposit will be returned to the resident on the departure date after checking the state of the room (in accordance with general rental conditions).

Do I have to pay a registration fee?

Yes, is an administrative fee that it has to be paid the first year.

Can I choose my room?

No, the hall of residence management is responsible for allocating the rooms to students.

Is there a kitchen in the room?

Yes, there's a kitchenette with cupboards, grill microwave, sink and fridge.

Is there an Internet connection in the room?

Yes, there will be a cable Internet connection in the rooms and Wi-Fi throughout the facilities.

Is the change of sheets and towels included in the price?

This service is optional and can be contracted at the start of the academic year or whenever you wish. For more information, please contact the RUVIC Secretary's Office during office opening hours.

Is the room cleaning service included in the price?

This service is optional and can be contracted at the start of the academic year or whenever you wish. For more information, please contact the RUVIC Secretary's Office during office opening hours.

The room cleaning service will not include the kitchen or the windows.

Is there a rubbish collection service?

No, each resident must take their rubbish down each day to the containers located on the street.

Is RUVIC open all year round?

Yes, the hall of residence is open 365 days a year.

How do I pay my monthly fees?

The payment of monthly fees will be made by direct debit, bank transfer or credit card between the 1st and 5th day of each month.

Can a friend come to visit me in my room?

Yes, a friend may come to study or visit a resident.

However, visitors must identify themselves at the reception desk and must respect the designated visiting hours.

Are there opening and closing times?

No, the hall of residence is open 24 hours a day and students have their own keys, so they can come and go as they please.

Does the hall of residence have its own parking facilities?

Yes, it's an optional service. Please enquire about the availability of parking spaces. The prices are listed in the fees section.

Is the hall of residence close to the UVIC-UCC campus?

Yes, it's just a five-minute walk away.

Is the hall of residence close to the train and bus station?

Yes, it's just five minutes away from the hall of residence.

Are there community rules?

Yes, given the large number of rooms, there are internal regulations that must be fulfilled.

What is the Cooking Lounge?

The lounge is composed of an eating area and a fully equipped kitchenette with an oven and microwave.
